The only reason to own a combine, trucks and cart is to harvest your own crops on a timely basis. It is a money generator but not a net money generator. If you have a combine and a a couple trucks and cart how many people does it take to run that operation efficiently on a custom basis? Answer that question and you're done thinking about a custom business like that on a small scale.

Others have given you some ideas. My other thought, albeit not NAT approved, is education beyond HS or Tech school opens up a plethora of effective net money making opportunities. Ask me how I know. I got a good base 35 years ago and it's time tested. I've done it all in production agriculture so we are not talking stupid money that can be made elsewhere, however its been a very satisfying career working with the best, most real folks in the world.
