Maybe check with Red Cross,Catholic Charities or any other type of groups like that?
They could help verify if this is legitimate or not, I understand that isn’t what you necessarily want to know.
I do think many on here would help out…..if their concerns can be but to rest by getting some answers to questions really aren’t out of line when asking for financial assistance.
