Buying and older machine and going custom would be a tough way to make money. You’re one breakdown away from going backwards.
I do a couple custom acres with my 2388 but that’s because it’s more combine than I “need” for my acres and I have neighbors that need help occasionally in the fall.
The money I make there covers some wear parts and maintenance.
