If you’re looking to keep busy and actually make money forget custom farming.  

Buy a mini excavator, a good tracked skid steer (plus attachments) a decent dump truck and a trailer to haul the mini ex and skid steer around.   

There is all kinds of work you can do with that equipment, work that actually pays rates that provide for a profit.  


If you must do something with custom farming, a tractor and a 30-40’ air seeder is constantly getting more work for cover crops and find work during a wider part of the year than basically anything else other than maybe a baler or equipment to do dirt work.    Dirt work pays much better than custom farming.
