Ludington/Manistee MI area | GS2 - 6/25/2025 10:23 The auto 911 call from an iPhone? Extremely common around here. Dropping your phone from a table to a hard floor will set it off. A good 90% of the calls are now that here, so much so it is becoming the "boy who cried wolf" as in departments are wondering if they should even bother brining everything to it before it is confirmed. They said 1 out of 97 calls was an actual accident.
Few falls ago locally a plane crashed shortly after takeoff. Both onboard died on impact. Anyway one of the passengers IPhone made the call. FD was dispatched for a car crash that was really a plane crash. I guess a moment of confusion. Eventually I ended up playing a small role in the cleanup. |
