Probably doesn't matter, but an equivalent sized propane tip is wider than an Acetylene tip, so you'll have more kerf. Worked with a guy that had one and it heated stuff and cut it. Need a different regulator for sure. And tips. 



Have used the same regulator for 30 + years. 20lb barbecue tank will last a long in time. No point in a bigger one.
