Northampton County, PA | Hi all
I would like to do a cover crop of alfalfa with my pumpkins next year, which is in a plot about 2 1/2 acres. In years past, I made hills and planted the pumpkin seeds by hand, roughly around 7ft apart, but I am still experimenting on what works best. I'd like to mow the alfalfa between the rows for the first cutting before the vines branch out and am still able to maneuver my equipment around, but I'd like to harvest the alfalfa when it goes to seed after the pumpkin vines die off. I have a market for both at the moment and I know where I could sell to. Would this idea work? I am not familiar with grasses, legumes, and other things of that sort. | |
