They've had decades. You can do things that escalate the situation, or deescalate the situation. 

The current administration is a blindfolded bull in a China shop. They only think one way. They think they want to continually escalate to a conclusion. 

Are we more or less safe? If the reports that Iran's nuclear program was set back "months" and not destroyed, we're probably less safe, and we'll also lose a certain amount of face.
