 northeastern Ohio | Yep, grew spelt for years and fed to dairy cows and heifers. The last variety that I remember using was Champ. It made a lot of straw!
I don't miss feeding the grain. We had to store it on farm because no feed mill wanted to dedicate any storage to it. Shovel and auger into a truck, take it to the feed mill. They would crimp it and add a little molasses to cut the dust. It didn't have any magical properties, but was decent feed. We grew it for the straw and just needed to get rid of the grain.
