northeastern Ohio | I fought with this problem last spring. MF 8670 would go into limp mode at random (I thought it was random) and display code 9150. I changed fuel filters, fuel transfer pump, and the fuel rail pressure sensor. Also ran some fuel treatment because my mechanic thought that a valve on the injection pump might be sticking. Seemed to work fine last fall for wheat planting, but I only did 100 acres.
Today, the problem returned as I was planting my last field of soybeans. I pull a 787 cart with a 36' 1850 air seeder which pushes the Massey around a little when it is full. This last farm has some big hills. Each time I went DOWN a big hill, the engine would rev up as it tried to hold 6 mph. And each time it did this, I would get code E9150 and it would go into limp mode about a minute later. Shut down, restart, the code goes away and it works fine until the next time I go down the big hill.
I tried holding the rpms to 1500 using the brakes as I went down the hill. If the rpm stays at 1500, then it does not error. But if I let go of the brakes and rpms increase to 2000, then I get the error.
My first thought was that I was over revving the engine. The next pass, I slowed down to 1000 rpm using the brakes. Then released the brakes slightly to increase to 1500 rpm as the air seeder pushed me down the hill. Error again.
I think that I know how to make it error now, but I still don't know WHY it does it. I think there are 5 sub-errors possible with code 9150, but I don't have a laptop to see which one it is throwing. Any ideas?
