NW Indiana | My area the April corn looks good to excellent. There is a lot of May planted that looks average to poor. Still lots of yellow where it seems the plants are struggling to uptake nutrients. Have talked to several guys trying to foliar feed some stuff and doesn't seem to be helping. Overall it is unlikely to be as good of a corn crop as last year. Beans I would say at this stage of the game look better than recent years based on much earlier planting but the lack of heat in 2nd half of May they aren't what they could be. D1 in my area and crops are starting to stress some with this heat, going to need some timely rains in July/August. | |
