What kind of lab do you send it to that can't get nitrate tests correct?
Who said they weren't correct? In the tests we have run based on the recommendations off the test it has left a lot to be desired. Calls for no nitrogen but if you have 170bu potenial in corn or better you better be adding more nitrogen. In ground with only hog manure it would come back 40-60ppm and on ground with 170-190 actual pounds of anhydrous it would come back 20-30ppm on total nitrogen but manure ground would run short on nitrogen even though it tested higher. I do relize that anhydrous has to get coverted but the tests never really added to anything of value to us that we felt we could take to the bank. Ran test about 5 years with varying rates of nitrogen to determine if test recommendations were accurate. |
