I'm in the same spot as you and I wouldn't put any more money into it. I had a brand new 499 35 years ago and the disk mower I replaced it with ran circles around it. Recently got back into a little hay for the kids and made the mistake of buying a nice used 499. Now I remember how happy I was to get rid of the original one.
