 Frost,Mn | FF1 isn’t as physical as you may think but you are trained by doing some drills with the air packs and you realize when you’re out of shape how quickly you can drain an air tank. The most involved skills you have to complete is a car fire and an interior house burn. It’s priceless to see how fire reacts coming over your head and you can use different hose streams to extinguish it or blow out a window and draw smoke out with a fan pattern. The FF2 gets more intense, we’ve had guys with melted shields on their helmets after a good fire.
I will say since I did my training over 20 years ago where we did hands on training 2 nights a week for 4 months vs the online they offer now with a few weekends of hands on, the newbie’s aren’t as knowledgeable as they used to be. | |
