I’ve read that if you’re in the drivers seat of a self driving car you can still get a DUI even if it’s doing the driving.
That is true, for now. Because there is no such thing as unsupervised self driving yet. Still required to have a sane and sober human in the seat to take over if the car goes off the rails.
Waymo may be an exception, but they are very limited so far as to what areas they cover. And of course the Tesla Robo-Taxi that just started up. In the Tesla, you are sitting in the back seat and have no way to control the car. I doubt a person could get pinched with a DUI in that situation. |
