You actually bring up a pretty good point. I'll use my Tesla as an example... The "key" for my Tesla is my phone. Technically, if I commit a crime and are on the run, all the cops need to do is contact Tesla (warrant needed? I don't know) and they could very easily give the cops my location, speed, heading, live feed from the car's cameras (including the one in the cabin), and without a doubt, the ability to disable the car.
At best.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla could actually take over control of the car, lock me in it, and drive me directly to the nearest law enforcement location. All the while, a message shows up on the screen in the car stating that I am under arrest!
And use an autonomous vehicle as a getaway car? I won't speed and put you or others at risk. You'd be better off riding a horse and using it to try to make a run for it. |
