Arco MN | I have been Strip tilling for like 15 years now and use a Gladiator for most of those years.
I run an 893 JD head with Calmer chopping rolls on it. My goal is to pick corn and leave the talks as tall as I can. Leaving them taller just helps clean out between the row units all the time and is easier on tires. We have been running the same rolls since 2013 and they are showing lots of wear but still do what we need. I hardly ever have any plugging issues unless stalks were laid down on the ends or its to damp wet doesn't help. I have more plugging issues doing custom work with a chopping head that just makes a mat of material you have to deal with that just doesn't work the best. | |
