Thanks for the suggestions & congratulations on the job. It's good to read that someone with farm experience is at the parts counter. Anything to speed up & make it easier & more efficient forĀ  your side AND my side of the counter is appreciated.

Now, sinceĀ  you didn't ask, here's 2 of my long-time suggestions for dealer parts people.

1. Identify yourself when you answer the phone. I i.d. myself (in detail) and you can call me "Ron" on the phone. I hate reciprocating and calling you the only name you gave on the phone which was "Parts....can I help you"? Instead, "this is Jim/Bill/Todd/Emma/whoever in parts....can I help you"? Now, when I call back I can tell whoever that I talked to you a few minutes ago & have info to continue.

2. Talk to the dealership into getting a cell phone to use for photos...both ways. Sometimes what I call an "arm", you might call an "actuator", but we're looking at the same thing.

We have a system we pay a few dollars a month for that allows customers to text our main phone number. That way, it goes to EVERYONE, and we can assign it back and forth depending on who needs to talk with that customer today.

Also keeps my employees from having to use their cell phones, or me having to pay more for cell phones.

I'm also switching to a new phone system that allows texting and video calls directly, but I'm not sure if we'll use those texting features since it will be dedicated to each phone extension directly. The video calling might be a handy feature though!
