Thanks for the suggestions & congratulations on the job. It's good to read that someone with farm experience is at the parts counter. Anything to speed up & make it easier & more efficient forĀ  your side AND my side of the counter is appreciated.

Now, sinceĀ  you didn't ask, here's 2 of my long-time suggestions for dealer parts people.

1. Identify yourself when you answer the phone. I i.d. myself (in detail) and you can call me "Ron" on the phone. I hate reciprocating and calling you the only name you gave on the phone which was "Parts....can I help you"? Instead, "this is Jim/Bill/Todd/Emma/whoever in parts....can I help you"? Now, when I call back I can tell whoever that I talked to you a few minutes ago & have info to continue.

2. Talk to the dealership into getting a cell phone to use for photos...both ways. Sometimes what I call an "arm", you might call an "actuator", but we're looking at the same thing.

We use cell phones as our main phone system. Take pics with it and send texts through our system. Have texted pics of parts diagrams off my computer to customers so they can see what I'm seeing and let them decide if its the right part or not. It's a pretty good system to have. Also have the old school desk phone to talk between other stores.
