SESD | I also had trouble with plugging the Gladiator in corn stalks making strips in the fall. To get the residue to flow, the residue had to be dry and relatively settled. In heavy residue it didn't matter if I used a chopping head or non chopping with stompers. If the residue has any moisture it was trouble. Letting the residue over winter and making spring strips helped with flow but is risky in my area since we tend to have wet springs. What worked the best for me was cutting corn as high as possible and pinning up the stompers. Less residue on the ground is the key. In addition, cutting high helped reduce corn residue from blowing and piling up. It's frustrating for sure. | |
