Southern MN | Used to be involved in some stores. Our manager was a great guy who was pretty good at telling stories. He started in parts, than sales, store manager and than overall manager. One of the best stories he told was about the farmer who was about to (this was over 30 years ago) become my father in law. Not a bad story but funny, even though my FIL is has been gone 10 years better not tell it here.
The other great story was when he was negotiating with another farmer who was known for being incredibly tight. He met with the farmer and his son at their farm. Can’t remember what the item was but it was a skinny deal anyway and he wouldn’t budge on the price no matter how hard the farmer tried. Finally the farmer sent the son do a task and the farmer turned to our manager and said you have got to give a little, what kind of an example am I setting for my son! If I remember right our manager left with 2 checks, one for “parts” written before the son returned and one for the now lower sales price written when the son came back. | |
