New London, Wisconsin
I can sympathize. I worked selling equipment from 1978 to 1982 and the parts man and I became good friends. I was back in parts while not busy, and a guy comes in looking for a belt for his mower.

I need a belt!!
What model mower do you have sir?
An International, I bought it here.
Both turn to me and I have never seen this guy so I can't help.
Sir the model number is how I look up the parts
WELL I DON"T KNOW IT"S AN INTERNATIONAL ISN"T THAT ENOUGH
Actually no sir, would you like to see if what is listed here looks like what you have?
Sure... never sees it... 20 minutes later
He finally storms off to find his model number because he lives two blocks away.

You can't make this stuff up.

I ALWAYS have a picture in my phone of every serial number make and model.

I really appreciate those who help find the parts from a sea of manuals, computer screen choices, inventory rack memories and intuition.

Jim
