| New profile name here since I post under my usual name a lot.
Recently I took a job selling parts at a local Deere ag dealership. Don't see myself doing this long term but for now I enjoy it and it pays the bills. I miss being out in the fields, but it is what it is..
Please know your model number!!!! We sell a ton of mower parts at this store being so close to a major city. You would be amazed at the amount of people that come in looking for a belt for their lawn mower but have no idea what model it is, what size deck it is. 48" cut deck could be probably a dozen different belts depending on the mower model.
Ag customers are the same way sometimes. Wanting parts for a R series Deere tractor but don't know if its an early or late serial. Serial number breaks means a lot when you are wanting parts. Is your header a double drive or single? What planter unit do you have?
Don't come in at 4:55PM looking to order a pile of parts for a 45 year old planter and then get mad when we don't have it in stock. Probably 2-3 7000/7100 planters left still running in this area so no, I don't have 100% of what you need. And if you want it tomorrow there will be shipping costs that you will pay.
If you order something, PLEASE come back in a reasonable amount of time to pick up your parts. We know yall are busy in the field but weeks upon weeks of your stuff you " had to have" sitting in the floor or on the shelf in a bag with your name on it is not good for anyone.
We have a service department, a sales department and a parts department, All are clearly marked on the walls with 2 foot tall letters. I don't know the status of your stuff in the shop. You can walk right back there and talk with them without having to stop and interrupting what we have going on.
Just today I had a guy looking for a mower deck belt. No idea what of his model number but he knew it was a 48" cut. I asked him for his model number and he says a Z28. I jokingly told him that was a car. Then his next response when I asked again was that it was a John Deere. Well that narrows it down since he's standing in a John Deere dealership. He calls someone to ask the model number while mumbling to himself about how he used to just come in and get his parts without any trouble..
Anyway that is what I have seen in my first few months.
