Heat increases resistance of power lines. Higher resistance = can’t shove as much power through them.
Makes a little more sense to me now.
FWIW- nieces husband works for ITC. His job is to make sure everyone that wants power is getting it. Haven't spoke with him in a couple months, but he has told me that he can use all the power generated in Michigan, no matter how its made. If they need extra, it comes in from Ontario first, and either Indiana or Ohio (can't remember which) if they need more than that.
My son works at a power plant in Michigan. The company makes juice with Nat Gas, coal, wind, and solar statewide. There are times that they need to idle turbines and even slow down some power plants due to maintenance. It would be peculiar to have that happen at this time of year though....... | |
