Subject: RE: Raven 440 screen

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I suspect it is still operating properly although you can't see what is going on. The wiring to turn on your boom sections is hardwired through the switches so the fact that they still work is not surprising.

When you are spraying in the present condition, does your pressure gauge seem to indicate what you would expect for your usual ground speed? If so, I would purposely slow down a fair amount, if the automatic rate control is working properly, you should see the pressure drop somewhat. If it does, speed back up to your usual ground speed and observe if the pressure returns to the higher expected reading.

If this is the case, I suspect that it is working properly which should allow you to continue to spray until you are able to get it replaced or repaired. You should be able to ballpark confirm your applied rate after doing another tank. You should know how many acres to expect from the tank and estimate the acres covered. I suspect they will agree.

Flipping the Rate 1/Rate 2/MAN switch to MAN should allow you to change the control valve position yourself even with a dark screen. You would then be relying on speed/pressure such as is necessary with simple systems. Before doing that however, I would leave the Rate 1/Rate 2/MAN switch in Rate 1 and observe the pressure as you change speeds. I'm thinking the auto rate control might still be doing its job.

If you are in the habit of changing the rates midfield, etc. this would not work so well.

If your are a bit brave, you can remove the back of the 440 by removing the long screws in the corners and the two in the center. This would allow you to remove the back portion of the case. The screen connection is a ribbon connector that should be plugged into the bottom of the main circuit board. Possibly it has just become unplugged. Observe the other connections, there may be something else which has become obviously unplugged.
