That’s actually an incredibly over complicated description of something that is relatively simple and pretty ingenious. A computer controlled hydraulic motor manipulates a planetary on the input side of a basic 3 range powershift to give infinite output speed. The “variable” part of the transmission never even sees a load. That is all put through the basic powershift.
