A new set of Shoup guards and some hold downs would probably set you back maybe $750-800?

And you’re cutting 200 acres of 5-6 ton / acre hay so maybe 75 cents per ton in “parts” variable costs. Gain 0.5 mph - who knows? At the very least, square off the guards with a grinder and set the hold downs.

More people are hurt with dull junk scissors. Worn guards are half the cutting operation.
