S Illinois | I would agree that weather wise there are a lot of similarities in this area to 1983(the N 2/3 didn't have anything close to a 1983 spring this year), but gone are the days of working ground to bug dust. The conditions guys can run in now days and still do a good job and get a stand is much better today. Also hybrids are night and day different now with regards to heat and pollination. It would be an interesting experiment to bring hybrids and production methods back and forth between the historical years and see what yields do. | |
