Northeast Louisiana | Back when I was the Fire Chief here in our area. We had a 911 call about a smoke alarm kept going off and there was no fire or smoke. The guys went inside and searched every single inch of that house with a Flir thermal until they found the electric water heater element that had a very faint short. Once they disconnected the element. The smoke alarm never went off again. Yes, sometimes smoke alarms do go haywire. But not often. If you’re in doubt, have the fire department do a thorough search with a thermal. It doesn’t take long if they are trained for it.
