Rolla, ND | Well first depends on which type of detector.
Ionization detectors use a radioactive source and that produces a small electrical impulse and ions partially block the alpha rays and this sets off the detector. They are better at detecting hot fires, theses are the ones set off by a hot pan on the stove.
I would think there is potential for being set off by an electric voltage drop but I don’t have experience with hard wired. My air conditioner will turn on my motion detector porch light. Maybe you have something like a sump pump or something that causes a drop when it comes on. Maybe they are designed to give low voltage alarm though the battery ones tend to just chirp to say the batteries are weak.
The other thing is some solvents can set them off like from oil based paints or such, and maybe those get concentrated enough when maybe the door isn’t being opened or such to move the air. A fan could change it if that is the problem.
Switching to an optical type detector might fix it. | |
