They used both ETF's and single stocks in their portfolio, and in overseas holdings, they were choosing ADR's. Back then, there weren't as many country-specific ETF's with a mixed basket of stocks in the target country as there are today.

The whole thing left me infuriated at these morons who spout theories over results in the markets.
