Subject: Observation

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
After looking more closely at your agitator valve, I notice it is not identical to the one on my Hagie.

With mine in my Hagie, there are raised indicator marks in the black cover. My Hagie uses the momentary switch. We can see the valve and the indicator marks and yellow position indicator out the right side window. This means we can use the momentary switch to make minor adjustments in the position of the ball and observe the position. This gives us a ballpark idea of the amount of agitation we are using.

Since your valve cover does not have these raised indicator marks and contains the word shutoff by the indicator, this tends to confirm the idea that yours is really just an ON/OFF valve. This agrees with your switch and wiring.

Possibly your agitation arrangement involves two valves in series. This switch and valve turns the agitation ON to a preset level and OFF completely. Another valve (hand?) controls the preset level.

This could be useful as there are times you may wish to shut OFF all agitation completely such as to prevent vortices as the tank gets empty but yet be able to return to the previous level of agitation for the next tank. Such an arrangement would allow this. You would use the switch to stop agitation but leave the other valve in its current position. When you desire that level of agitation again for the next load, you would just flip the switch back ON.

With my Hagie we could stop agitation by reducing it completely with the momentary switch but would need to reset it to the previous level for the next tank. We have not found need to reduce the agitation to finish a tank so the Hagie arrangement has been fine.
