I got rid of them 3 years ago and the feeders 2 years ago.

I miss them when I drive by the pasture or feed lot. I got out because the store requires a pile of time and I no longer had time for the cattle.

Something will always replace the time that you gain from not having cattle, some of those things maybe a lot of fun some may be a pain in the arse.

I will never get back in like I was but I may have a few now and then and probably will be feeders.

What you said about your family was not derogatory it was facts needed for someone to help give you an answer.

My answer which is only an opinion is to get out on the high and move on.

I can tell you one thing, farmers are in the most generational business continuation than any other business. When businesses sell in town nobody gives a crap about who buys it and things go on. When farmers sell out and it’s not to a family member they are generally shunned by other farmers because they didn’t continue on, and they will really hate you when you rent it to any one but them. So you make one person happy is it. The older I get the less important it gets for me to make sure my family continues to farm because it’s not gonna happen. If I lived where ag is king I would have a different attitude but where I live ag is losing ground every day to houses. I would guess that within 50 years from now most of my land will be planted to houses. I will be dead so it is what it is…
