Subject: RE: do you miss the cows?

Since I am just that type of person and nobody else here is it looks like.............................Is the high school kid showing up now got his eye's on your 19 year old? I just had to ask..........

I am the same age as you, and will always have some cattle, could not imagine not. Originally, me having grown up with them and milked for awhile, its odd without them, and I went through a period without. Ended up buying a place later and started running some again, mostly to keep my sanity while doing other things for a living. My oldest didn't really have any interest but me and his mother made him do some of the chores, its not a free ride here. Now he is 16, enjoys it as much or more than I do. Just bought a 1655 Oliver with his own money to grind feed because he didn't like our 560 Diesel, he was complaining about the 560 one day, and I told him if he pays for it, we can get you what ever you want..............He wanted a 55 series Oliver and made it happen. I also have a 6 year old who is a non verbal autistic, I am with him most of the time while my wife works, there was a period where I thought the same as you but not for the same reason, had a talk about it with the oldest on why and he said not a problem, I want to keep them and will help with the work and so far he makes it happen. I still feed in the AM when he is in school, but he does most nights unless he is working at the sale barn which is a job he got because of the cattle. Even at his age I think he understands the cattle here in smaller numbers are good for him. Either way, they are staying here and IMHO are a good thing, even with the work.
