Northeast ks | I don't miss cows much. I was 33 and renting a big pasture which was about half my pasture. The landlord's grandson wanted to rent it, so I was out. I didn't want to drylot or keep going with half of a herd, so I sold out. At least you can leave on your own terms and the cattle prices are the highest ever. If I remember right, when I sold was a drought summer, the landlord gave notice in December, I fed my cows $100/bale hay, calving was terrible cold and lost some calves, then I sold some nice pairs for $1200-$1500 that spring. | |
