Grew up with dairy, and managed a dairy for several years. That is the definition of ball and chain.
Now own the home farm and have a very small beef cow herd and feed out 15-20 for freezer beef every year. The way we have it set up it takes very little time most days. I can’t imagine not having cows, not having to go out in the morning and do chores, even if it’s only half an hour. I actually like it better in the winter, get outside and out of the house or shop. I guess it’s just always been part of my daily routine. My son is 16 months, his first word was Moo. He loves the cows, every time we get home we have to go see them before we go in the house. Keep threatening my wife we’re going to have to start milking again to raise him right.
This is my experience, you have to do what works for you
