| From everything I’ve read on here it sounds like virtually everyone on both sides agrees that the immigration policy need to be fixed.
However, if the excuse for people not following due process because the immigration process is too cumbersome is valid then the excuse that the deportation process is too cumbersome is also valid.
Under normal circumstances the deportation process might have been effective enough. These are not normal circumstances though. This administration is dealing with the abnormally high illegal immigration that occurred during the previous administration. Dealing with the high numbers of illegal immigrants would overload the deportation system. If due process isn’t being followed for deportations it is because it is too cumbersome.
Very similar excuses can be made for both sides of this argument. We have to decide to either accept both excuses or reject both of them. Anything else is hypocritical. | |
