You better do some serious fact checking.
1. I never remember when USDA wanted to limit the number of acres you cd farm.
2. There has nearly always been a limit on subsidies except during a national disaster payment. Nothing was thrown out the window.
3. Crop insurance did not make farmers bigger. The more losses you have the smaller your aph becomes until your coverage is down to nothing.
4. Consider the many years if great crops with great prices.
Improved machinery, better farming methods, better genetics helped immensely.
5. Not sure why you think big operations are crash proof. They don't get free machinery and inputs for 0.
If anything the smaller ones have less to risk and often have 0 debt.
