I’m not a 100% sure as to why it matters if it’s a long stretch but me and my buddy both build fence commercially and that is the only times we have trouble with them. My opinion when you’re splicing it if one of the splices on a line wire is uneven and it causes one wire to over tension in comparison to the other line wires and causes the gripple or crimp to fail.
Would it have something to do with contraction due to cold temps? |
