Subject: Electrolytes in Cattle Water

Hey guys quick question here, has anybody used electrolytes to increase water intake and help mitigate some heat and humidity stress? I would think that would be what they’re for but I’ve gotten mixed input locally…

I have concrete tank waterer, it’s got an automatic float valve to keep it full, it holds roughly 250-300 gallons I’ve got 40 head drinking out of it from a feed lot. My idea was to just dump in some every morning, I know it will dilute through the day as they drink but i figure some is better than none, another option id thought about was trying to use like a small dosatron pump to just pump some in there, like a half rate or something so it wouldn’t get overly concentrated.

I don’t have a real good way to have a salt block in there any way I’ve tried they just make a mess of. That was a suggestion one guy gave me to increase water intake.

Also if you have experience or use electrolytes, what would you recommend for this application?
