Virtually all arguments about this topic tend to follow a similar pattern.

One side says they don’t have a problem with the people themselves but they do want the laws to be followed. They generally appreciate Trump for finally enforcing those laws. They generally feel that a labour market that requires illegal workers to function is not a viable model as it takes advantage of those who are willing to work very hard for lower wages than they themselves would accept.

The other side is upset because they believe Trump is not following the law and the proper procedures when he enforces the laws that stop others who are breaking the law. They also generally believe the right thing to do is allow those who are in the U.S. illegally to continue breaking the applicable laws in order to maintain their own standard of living. They feel that industry needs to continue to have access to workers who are willing to work very hard for lower wages than they would accept to achieve that.

I will add one more thing. In general, the side that wanted to prosecute to the fullest extent anyone who trespassed, even those that remained peaceful, on a certain property several years ago also tend to be the same people who now want to ignore non citizens who are trespassing, some for many many years now, on U.S. soil.

The other side wants the illegal immigrants to simply be returned to their own country and do not require them to be punished for trespassing on U.S. soil. That is except for those that actually committed crimes. They want those people to face the law for the crimes committed.

This isn’t directed towards anyone in particular. It’s just a general pattern that virtually every argument on this topic follows.
