WCMO-SWMO Area

Same here. I'll have to dig back in the threads but wasn't long ago some idiot on here said you can never be too wet or something along that line, yeah bull hockey.

That "idiot" may be me...I recently made the comment that my immediate area loses far more crops to drought than it ever does to excessive rain...If we can get a crop planted and established here,it can handle lots of rain...Most farms in my neighborhood all drain good and few creek bottoms are farmed....We dont tend to get the 3-8 inch rains like lots do in other areas..I've had 21 inches of rain since April..The two biggest rains were just a little over 2 inches each..The last time our farm wasn't 100% planted was way back in 1969...In 2011,2022,2023 drought caused a total corn failure on my farms that I rent out...No corn crop has ever totally failed due to excessive rain.

Now,you can go 10-20 miles away and its a totally different story...They have some pretty flat farms that dont drain well..They also farm some creek and river bottom ground..Some have had over 25 inches since April 1st and their corn shows it...2025 may be the year that they grow little or no corn because of it being far too wet...Theres still some beans to plant and theres a month to do it..2016 was a wet year and some didnt finish beans until August..We had a unusually late freeze and they made 25-30.

I realize that many areas in the US struggle when they receive far too much rain..The pictures at the top of this topic make me sick to see.
