West Union, Illinois | I'm a trustee and secretary / treasurer for a local cemetery. Dad had it before me. There is a map and a book. Most of the time they even match! Over the years the records have not been well maintained.
One of the problems is there's the original cemetery, the church yard addition, the first addition, the church addition between the first addition and the road, the second addition beside the first addition, and the third addition that wraps around the second addition. There is a sort of map of the original section.
The idea of a mapping program is great, just two minor problems. The cost and the time needed. Mowing cost $500 per mowing. We get $2000 a year from the township for maintenance. We've already spent that. There's no money for mapping software. And if we get the software given to us it would take me a long time to get the data entered. |
