Holly Hill, SC
I was curious of the same thing and went ahead and drew out 3 scenarios on Auto CAD, 90 degree to row, 30 degree to row, and parallel to row. Assuming 100' boom on 30" row spacing and 12" tire track. Rectangular field 1/2 mile (2640') x 1/4 mile (1320'). Rows planted long direction. Ignore the perimeter pass since that would be consistent for all three.

90 degree: 24,200' driven over, 25 passes

30 degree: 24,956' driven over, 23 passes

parallel assuming run over 2 rows per pass: 60,696' (Could cut this in half if the wheel width is adjusted so it is not possible to run over two rows at once.) 12 passes

Obviously the best scenario would be to drive between the rows and run over zero.
