Southern Missouri | From what we’ve seen , both statements above are good thoughts , were flat as a pancake here and speed and propwash definitely have an impact on spray pattern and terrain like the hilly pastures spoke of will cause changes in speed / pattern, however most of the time the centrifugal nozzles do a pretty good job , especially if you stick with a narrower swath .It is my firm opinion that early drone sales people did the industry a gigantic disservice by claiming 32 foot swaths , they did that trying to increase sales by making it appear as the acres per hour coverage was more than should of been , after thousands and thousands of acres (and tests )of herbicide spraying with several brands of centrifugal nozzles/drones , we have settled on 18 to 21 foot swaths on herbicide spraying that shows your pattern exactly .We use a small mapping drone to create up to date maps for the spray drones to follow and if done correctly, the pre mapping will eliminate most any properly equipped spray drones from having terrain and obstacle problems. Pre mapping with proper small drone and laptop software etc is very fast and easy and that information is good until anything changes in that field , such as tree growth or building something there, wind speed of zero to 9 mph we like , above 9 mph breeze with centrifugal nozzles you have to start paying close attention to several things , at least this has been our experience so far ,as for which brand , we’ve had good luck with xag and we definitely want the largest tank size available, believe me just a couple extra gallon per each fillup adds up like you wouldn’t believe, we’re hoping for near 25 gallon size tanks for next season , supposedly they are on the way , we use p150s now with 18.5 gallon tanks ,as always just MHO
