You know Jesus was Jewish right? And all the disciples? The early church still considers themselves to be Jewish. Didn't the Lord have to die to fulfill the prophecies of Isaiah? Was it not the Romans that put Jesus to death and not his fellow Jewish countrymen?
Of course I know Jesus was Jewish. At the root of it, it was the Jewish leaders that conspired to have Jesus killed. The Roman over them had to be blackmailed to convince him to go along with their plans. Jesus himself said to the Roman (Pilate) that the Jewish leaders had the greater sin. But Pilate was also guilty of gross injustice in allowing an innocent man to be executed. The Jewish leaders hated Jesus because He exposed their hypocrisy. Being themselves Jews they had all the knowledge available to them to know better. But they chose to disbelieve, and God used their foolishness to accomplish His own ends. |
