I’ve wondered for a long time why we don’t have diesel electric tractors. It’s common in mining equipment. Seems to me it would be significantly more efficient and than the different flavors of vario transmissions out there.
If a clutch works on a tractor, why would you need all the extra expense and complexity of a diesel electric system? Just to be cool?
