Southern Alberta | Doesn’t really apply directly to your question but thought I would share.
Was looking for a truck to pull our gooseneck that would be safe and reliable puppy heavy loads delivering hay and hauling equipment on a weekly basis.
Ended up with an F-550 and was worried about it being derated also, figured I’d just tune it up to what a regular F-350/F-450 puts out.
We’ve been putting it to work and honestly it pulls every bit as good if not better than our single wheel L5P Duramax and single wheel 6.7 powerstroke.
I would say it’s a bit slower taking off because it takes its time going through the gears and revs a bit higher before shifting but holds way better on the hills and into the wind. I’m at about 2000rpm at Hwy speeds and it rarely shifts out of top gear pulling a hill. So needless to say we aren’t messing with it, it’s built to pull and does a really good job. | |
