That's really a cop out.

I know several people, some of them family, hell, some of them me, that have been saddled with things like ongoing medical debt and issues through no fault of their own. There can be issues with parents, siblings, business and job closings, and on and on and on.

Is that an excuse? Maybe. Does it happen? Absolutely.
