Does it have normal horsepower the whole time? Could be injectors.. I had to do mine at 2700 hours but was lacking hp.. could do a fuel return test to see of it shows anything.... could be the inlet line from tank to first filter partly collapsing but id do a fuel bucket test after it starts acting up . Doubt it's the mechanical lift pump
